On Sunday 14 of September 2014, Storm Odile hit the state of Baja California. Odile is the strongest storm to hit the Baja California peninsula in almost 50 years.
The storm caused major damage to Los Cabos resort town. Electricity and phone service were cut off across the state of Baja California Sur, and the Los Cabos airport was closed to commercial flights. It’s been confirmed today that military and police planes began airlifting estranged tourists. Mexican government began airlifting the first of thousands of stranded tourists out of the hurricane-ravaged resort area of Los Cabos yesterday.
Our facilities in los Cabos Airport and La Paz remain closed, as electricity and phone services have not been restored, we are working in cooperation with local authorities in all recommendations and security guidelines.
Our main concern at this point is the safety of our clients, we are urging them not to attempt to drive thru the airport as it’s been reported roads are in pretty bad condition, all resorts are coordinating with local authorities official transportation to the airport so you can board an exit flight as the airport has been reopened.
About the Avis rental car, please do not attempt to return it to the airport; we will collect the car once roads are reopened, and to be able to do so, we would only request, in case you have the possibility, to let us know where the car was left using any of our communication channels, if using social media please use private messaging.
In you have any question related to your rental in Los Cabos or La Paz, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
